I finally found a hikinuki, after weeding through some kabuki videos on youtube.
Go to 3:20 if you don't want to watch the entire dance. Hahaha I knew that there had to be a hikinuki somewhere!

there's kind of a creepy dramatic feel to the music.
and i can tell that it's a dude, but only cuz u told me so :)
I really like the music. Hhahaha. It feels even more so the way it feels to you because it's a dance.
The interesting thing about onnagata is that you're supposed to be aware of him being a male. They don't hide it at all. Kabuki's goal isn't to be realistic-- it's to be dramatic and unrealistic in a lot of aspects. Hahaha I've been doing so much reading on onnagata. @_@;;;
Some of the dudes look really pretty, though. Even though you keep in the back of your mind that he's a dude, sometimes, in the play, you get completely absorbed into the character and forget about the dude under the kimono.
creepy indeed. yikes. and wow, it's a dude...so not culturally immune to this, at the moment.
hi moon. :)
